As it stands now, the latest reports is that an earthquake which struck Friday a couple of days thereabout ago, nearing 8 on the Richter scale, with the epicenter in or near Mandalay, which is near the center of the country, has caused the loss of at least 1,500 individuals, and ripple effects have spread out all over the region passing geographic boundaries, and into places such as Bangkok, where buildings have collapsed.
To the west of the area, Bangladesh, to the east, Yunnan area, to the southeast, border area with Thailand.
