Russia Launches Air Weapons on Ukraine in Recent Hours

Posted by HCN on Thursday, February 24, 2022
Developing story. Is it 'headline news'?, the answer might be in gray area. Questions are asked, how serious is the fighting, how powerful are the ballistics dropped, the frequency, intensity, and bluntly how many? This in consideration that Russia and Ukraine have had tensions over the years. It was known that over the past few weeks escalations were intensifying, but it was not clear whether it might result in skirmishes, a few targeted missiles to disable a piece of infrastructure, and so forth. Is it more of the same old thing with a bit more fire power. Yet to see.
Notwithstanding what has happened, something has in terms of weaponry being fired on targets in Ukraine. Here is a brief list of what has been set on media thus far 4pm EST:
The Donbas area [off Ukraine} is evidently a focused area that Russia has an interest in.
Curfews possibly in place in Ukraine. Most by about early evening; pros, cons.
Kiev/Kyiv in, or very near to have reportedly had sites hit by ballistics.
Chernobyl nuclear reactor also 'taken'.
State of emergency in Ukraine.
Snake Island had infrastructure destroyed.
A Russian K-52 helicopter reported to have been shot down. There is a video that has been released with a white colored letter V idiosyncratically marked on the side o the helicopter.
Released photos of tanks up in fire and chemicalized dense smoke.
Hlukhiv region affected.
In Odessa, explosions heard this morning local time, Promyslova Street area. Buyalik Airport may have seen missile action.

Based on what has been released thus far, it does not appear the missiles have been principally directed at human targets, rather certain infrastructures.

As of today Thursday 2/24/2022, 4:10pm EST, popular European online newspaper says there are a total of over 40 to 60 total Ukrainian individuals total deceased combined soldiers and civilians, and over 20 injured.

Reactions globally:
The US has imposed sanctions.
France issued 'warning'.
China has made statement indicative that there is still some latency insofar an outright all out invasion, that it is not that at least not yet, and they are watching the developments/situation closely.
Germany expressed a sense of being stunned at the degree events have materialized, and wish or peace, with nuances that there is still time for the developments to roll back into at least a status of latent invasion.

Comments: Most, on a global level, probably do not 'feel like' reverting back to the vibe of WWI, WWII era, of tanks on the ground engaging in close combat, nor feel like witnessing the kind of strife that was happening through the airways over Syria a few years ago, with too many missiles for anyone to be comfortable, but not enough to be considered battles of historic proportions. Most would probably lean to 'let's get this resolved' and stop the offensives.

Reasons could include, COVID-19 viruses still lingering in the air, mass migrations, refugee, displacement, combinates of artillery smoke with the virus, and the general totality o a pandemic with a combat situation might spin into something no one has experienced before, and very unprepared for.
