A Maryland News Round of Important Matters Affecting Health and Safety

Posted by HCN MD news on Saturday, December 17, 2016
Three areas, with intention to be respectfully presented, that are justified to be addressed:
  1. Road conditions
  2. Rise of mental health conditions of children
  3. Reports of substance abuse related deaths on the rise in the U.S.

In regard to road conditions it is recommended:
  • Follow all safety advisories
  • Do not wait until you see a danger within a few feet of you when driving to slow down to the recommended speeds
  • Make sure your heaters are working in case you get stuck in the vehicle unexpectedly for longer lengths of time

There was an unfortunate incident or combination of incidents along I-95 near Washington Boulevard early this morning.  Perhaps about 50 or more vehicles were eventually involved in collisions.  Access to the artery being obstructed by emergency responders, might have contributed to slower driving conditions, which in turn might have contributed to resulting in traffic conditions where other collisions occurred on the outskirts of the locale of the accident.

Many vehicles had to stay stationary while the emergency activities was in process.  There were a number of reasons why the number of cars involved in collision was high, including road conditions after extreme cold, and low visibility.

Note, 'Mental health issues in kids on the rise', was published in ChesapeakeFamily.com's, 'Big Book of Health 2017'.

For kids mental health, it is recommended to read viable written by authors with credentials on the subject as appropriate.  Parents, child care providers, legal guardians, older siblings, might want to take advantage of subscribing to blogs and e-mail lists of tips of how to preclude mental health issues in children 17 and under, primarily referring to age 12 and under.
Avoid staying and resting in places where there is constant argument and your child could sense threatening or imminent violent conditions, which could lead to stress in the child; what might seem like light matter to you or an adult, could take up a larger portion of a child's mind or emotional handling capacity.
Some reactions of a child which might seem like a disorder might actually be a normal and healthy reaction to an abnormal situation the child is sensitized to.

Some social theories have it that more sophisticated societies that demand performance can result in more stress, less sophisticated and challenging societies less stress.  As it is not the goal of the U.S. to retrogress or become less sophisticated, rather stay above and increase technology, a solution is how to handle what could result in potentially stressful situations.

It is of course recommended to steer away from substance abuse and from watching entertainment that might dramatize in enticing ways getting involved with drugs.
