Boat Incident. Tragedy on Top of Disappointment.

Posted by HCN on Wednesday, April 10, 2024
On or about April 8, 2024, a boat said to be overcrowded evidently was struck by a tidal wave, leading to about 100 persons lost.  The incident occurred off the central to northeastern coast area of Mozambique. The east African country has it's easy a shoreline at the Mozambique channel. It is almost directly across the water to Madagascar. Nearest land point to the Madagascar mainland right about the middle and jutting out in western direction region.
Reports are the boat was coming from Nampula Province to Mozambique Island. The island is not too far from mainland Mozambique.
Reports also say the person's on board the boat were principally on there to flee cholera.
That is where disappointment comes in.

In a number of nations, cholera is an illness of the obsolete past, save rare exceptions.

Cholera outbreaks may be occurring at a frequency that the common cold does in some regions of the world that have been granted the fortune of medicinal and other advances to overcome it.

The incident of the boat and cholera leave feelings of inadequate amounts of help provided, perhaps by those that could, be of more help.
