Major
drama unfolded and unfolding. A few days ago, two girls did a suicide
blast in a market in the northeaster part of the country, claiming the
lives of a about 30 persons. Today, Friday, known to Muslim World as
Jumaa Day -basically meaning Gathering Day-, several bomb blasts have
been reported leaving a death toll of almost 110 persons and counting.
The
location of the Friday afternoon blast that occurred in the midst of
the gathering for the Friday prayer, where many attending were present,
was near the Emir's Palace, Central Masjid, in the northern city of
Kano.
Added 5:50pm: Gunfire and protesting also erupted in the immediate area of the blasts.
The
body count has inconsistent reports. Some sources say over 80
deceased, 150 injured, some say over 100 deceased; developing story.
