It was the wish for many of us to fill the pages of headline and front page news with greetings for a New Year.
Arrived upon us however was a tragedy that took place about a few minutes after 5am in a locale about 16 miles south of Denver, Colorado, occurence in an aprtment complex in Douglas County. According to reports thus far, somewhere between 20 to 100 rounds were fired; an officer a fatality.
Once again it is immediatelly asked, how did that amount of fire power, regardless of whether multiple weapons or just one big one, manage to get into the hands of one individual and then to unfortunately roll-over to another massive ammunition discharging situation?
For those that might not be completely submerged in what once again refers to, there have been other mass ammo situations that emerged, such as the one in Las Vegas, Nevada in the past few months at the Strip, the events in San Bernardino, California, Sandy Hook Elementary, both within a number of years they can be reasonably brought up.
Perhaps an important question is, what do we need to do to prevent these kinds of catastrophes? Is there some kind of law or laws that can be passed that address inordinate stock-piling of ammunition for personal use? Bump-stock laws are not going to solve everything, just like minimizing the number of rounds bullet magazines and clips to automatic weapons; people find ways around new regulations so that they can meet an ultimate objective, which is to be able to fire as many rounds in as short a time possible, and construct their weaponry strategy so that it manages to be in conformity with existing laws and regulations. Above and beyond that ongoing dilemma has to be developed, very quickly.
Thoughts, condolences, and most of all prayer goes out for a better America.
