Signs through social media and news bulletins although there was no footage, no photos, no interviews, no sounds yet that reached here in the U.S. as the series of earthquakes, tremors, and aftershocks hit Italy was unfolding, were very indicative that something was occurring that was bigger than a mellow change in climate conditions.  Major networks were reporting the story simultaneously without much ordinary pictures and glitz as are in many major big stories.  Further in detail information as to the status and updates began to emerge.

And so the signs proved to be true.  As of today, the rough estimate of the toll of lives is nearing 300, and those unaccounted for.

Whether one is standing in Italy where the city of Rome sits since the beginning of time, with his or head facing opposite the north pole, the region where the earthquake struck about equivalent to the direction of the comfortably raised extended left arm to the left, or if Italy is west of the Middle East, and the region is northeast of Rome, many dimensions of the physical structures there are now destroyed.

The challenges in the region in the wake of the earthquakes and seismic activity include mountainous like environment, and much dry rock and rubble.
