A Maryland 13 year old male youth was missing starting around October 30th, last seen in a well known intersection of New Jersey/ New York Ave, not too far from DC museums and major public transportation hubs, in connection to a Uber ride.
Plainly, fortunately the young man has been reunited with his family.
In lieu of going into what kinds of measures were about to be taken to find him, -
Let it be said that there are certain precautions to take before allowing a dependent or vulnerable person into a rideshare:
Just because there is an app, and tracker, does not assure 100% accountability of everything that happens for every second and every amount of distance traveled.
- Riders have been attacked, drivers have been attacked.
- Unfortunately there are drivers out there that use the rideshare programs to supplement or decoy criminal activity, even if very subtly.
Safety Tips:
- It may be strongly recommended, that if your teenager, elderly spouse, great grandparent over 80, recently released hospital patient, were to have a rideshare arranged, to make sure that they have a photo communication source, such as a cellular phone, it is charged up sufficient to stay on it during the ride, where you can see and talk to the rider until they meet their destination.
- Get the driver name, and other validated identification before the ride starts.
